Happy Emmaus New Year to all!
What are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us during 2018 at the North Mississippi Emmaus Community. Even now, teams for Walks 323, 324, 325, and 326 are preparing to share the Light of Christ with our incoming Pilgrims. Please pray earnestly for all involved with these weekends.
You may have already read that we have had to increase our fees, in order to adequately cover the cost of our weekends. We are truly thankful that we have Rick and Bev Shepherd prudently managing our camp and its operations to keep our expenses at a minimum. The camp is in great shape and we were able to replace two worn out carts during the winter.
We are in the process of updating our website under the direction of Chris Eady. With Dave Dampier’s move to Texas and the fact that we could no longer support our website’s platform, it became necessary to make this transition. We anticipate that the updated website will allow us to navigate through the site much easier with expanded capabilities. We are thankful that Chris is willing to take on this task and we will keep you informed as we make the changes.
We have a wonderful Board that has already been very active in addressing the many areas that this ministry touches. Many of our Board members have taken on some additional tasks, that hopefully will allow us to continue to move our Emmaus ministry forward. Rob Burnham has agreed to focus on our efforts with community sponsorships. He hopes to compile some strategies that will encourage our existing community members to grow our pilgrim pool. As he brings these strategies to us, he plans to make himself available to help put in place some the new ideas at the local level.
Please watch for updates as we will be working on enhancing our total communication efforts and as we begin to try and centralize much of our Emmaus information in order to make it easier to retrieve and to safeguard our data. Our Board members stand ready to help you in any way we can, so please remember them in your prayers as we go through these changes.
Carpe Diem and DeColores,
Bill West
