We have been given, by the grace of God, a new year, a clean slate full of opportunities to touch others’ lives through the Walk to Emmaus. As we prepare for this year, let us each be careful to bathe it with prayer— the pilgrims and their families, the team members, the sponsors, each event of every walk, as well as the team meetings and the gatherings—let us diligently cover these with prayer. There is no substitute for it. Recently I read this quote by Peter Kreeft that served as a strong personal reminder to me on the power of prayer: “I strongly suspect that if we saw all the difference even the tiniest of our prayers make, and all the people those little prayers were destined to affect, and all the consequences of those prayers down through the centuries, we would be so paralyzed with awe at the power of prayer that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest of our lives.”
When you pray, ask God to reveal to your heart someone for you to sponsor this year. Some things you may want to pray for them about are the right time to ask them, courage for them to say yes, that God will prepare their family to be agreeable to their going, that he will bless their health and that the Holy Spirit will begin preparing their heart to meet with God on the Walk to Emmaus.
Our March walks are at hand—Walk 313, March 2-5, led by Doug King and Walk 314, March 9-12, led by Rebecca Swain. Thank you for including these in your daily prayers.
We are giving thanks to the Lord for his gracious provision of a bathroom and septic tank for the prayer room! This was made possible by donations from a thoughtful Emmaus community and the expertise of a devoted servant of God. This will be a tremendous convenience for all who serve on future walks.
"The LORD your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” (Zephaniah 3:17 NASB)
