September 2022 Newsletter

Autumn is here! Although we are still experiencing warm weather, we know that cooler temperatures and beautiful fall colors are coming soon. Our seasons bring transitions. I never dreamed of the transition I would experience as I was sitting on that church pew one Sunday morning many years ago and felt the nudge to say yes to my sponsor who had been asking me to attend an Emmaus Walk.

Now 23 years later, I am writing my last chairman’s letter and thinking of this wonderful journey. God had plenty of work to do in me as I stepped out in faith to first attend a walk, then work walks, give talks, lead a walk, serve on the board then finally lead the board.

However, I did realize I would experience a new season of my life when I accepted the transition from board representative to board chair a few years ago. It’s been an amazing adventure and I am so very thankful to this Emmaus Community for the opportunity to serve such an awesome God in so many wonderful ways through this ministry. I have been honored and blessed while serving.

I thank you for your love and support shown to Emmaus and to me during this time. At the beginning, I prayed that God would help me lead in a way that would glorify Him. God answered these prayers through many of you encouraging me. I so appreciate your encouragement.

We have just finished two awesome walks where it was evident that men and women were touched, hearts were healed, and people have grown closer to our God.

We have two more walks this year. Steve Cummings will be leading the last Men’s Walk of 2022, Walk #353 on October 6th-8th. Sara Goldwater will be leading the last Women’s Walk of 2022, Walk #354 on October 13th-16th. They have both prepared well and have two awesome teams to help with these walks. Please join me in prayer for these two walks as we close out our 2022 Emmaus year.

I am thankful for seasons, for Emmaus, and for you. I have developed a wonderful close and loving relationship with God through Emmaus and have developed loving and close relationships with you. Thank you for all you do for Emmaus. I pray you would continue to serve our Lord with joy, be his hands and his feet, and change our world for the better... one Pilgrim at a time!
