The North Mississippi Emmaus Community is eagerly anticipating a great year of opportunities to serve the Lord and make a difference in the lives of many men and women. In these years of making difficult decisions about walks during COVID and the unexpected death of our Chairman, the Board of Directors has diligently served and prayed for God’s will. The Lay Directors, teams, and sponsors exemplified unity and cooperation as many walks had to be cancelled and rescheduled.God placed Judy Smith in the perfect position as Vice Chairman to enable her to graciously step in and complete one unexpired term as Chairman, plus serve another full term. Her steadfast leadership kept us organized and prepared to start back now with a full schedule.
With great appreciation for their time and hard work, we say farewell to Board members Patty Bailey, Rich Knox, Jan Miller, and Jim Woods. At the same time we welcome aboard newly elected members Jody Bailey, Sheri Burrell, Mitch Griffin, Cliff Hudson, and Kerry Powell with thanks for their willingness to serve. We, also, want to thank David Lott and his staff for years of unselfish dedication to keeping our financial records correct and current. We are blessed to have Les Miles taking on the responsibilities of the Treasurer’s position as of January 1, 2023.Through these years even though no walks took place, expenses have continued and taken a real toll on our financial status. Please remember that your monetary support will be greatly appreciated, whether you are able to come to the camp or not.
We all know that the most important support you can give us is constant prayer for the pilgrims, their families, team members, sponsors, the Board, and each event that takes place during a walk.If you have not signed up for the 72 Hour Prayer Vigil, you can still contact Bill Maslin (wrmaslin@gmail.com) and participate. We really appreciate Bill’s taking the time to select and install a new computer in the Emmaus office. He faithfully keeps our technology up to date and working.
If you haven’t met our newest caretakers, Scott and Charlene Coleman, you will see what an excellent job they are doing when you come to the camp. The new paint and curtains in the Conference Room are the latest proof of their updates. We are all benefitting from their hard work because there is no need for a work day at this time.
Remember to pray for our first two walks of 2023:Walk 355, March 2-5, Lay Director Chris Miller and Walk 356, March 9-12, Lay Director Linda Ketchum.
De Colores,
Doug King
