May 2023 Newsletter

As we approach the next Emmaus walks, we are nearing the halfway point in our 2023 schedule.Back-to-back Ladies’ Walks will take place in June.Walk #359 will start on June 1st with Angela Fratesi as Lay Director, followed by Walk #360 on June 8th with Bethanne Graves as Lay Director.

In case you haven’t heard, in April our Camp Caretaker Scott Coleman had a serious motorcycle accident. The Lord protected him from life-threatening injuries, but his foot did require surgery. As an act of agape while he is recovering, the North Mississippi Emmaus Communities are alternating work days at the camp. These work days will not only help Scott but will keep the camp clean and well maintained for the summer and fall walks.

Bev Shepherd continues to keep us technologically up-to-date. She has developed a QR code that will take you directly to the North Mississippi Emmaus website. You will still need to enter the user name and password, but it should provide easier access to the site. You can use the camera on your phone and it should lead you to open the website in a browser.

There will be a longer break between the June walks and the next walks which will take place in September. This will give you extra time to contact potential pilgrims so continue reaching out to others in your community to offer them the same blessing we all have received.

Even though there will be Chrysalis and Chrysalis/Crossroads Flights taking place this summer, we are still trying to overcome the deficits in operating funds caused by the cancelled walks in the past years. If you would like to help Emmaus during this time, you can send a contribution to Treasurer Les Miles, 444A Hwy. 12 West, Starkville, MS 39759.Any amount will be appreciated.

Don’t forget that in addition to pilgrims and funds, each walk needs team workers.Whether you just attended your walk or went years ago, please have an updated application on file so you can serve on a team in 2023. Remember to pray for all our upcoming walks, teams, and meetings but especially the ones in June.

De Colores,

Doug King
