February 2019 Newsletter

Happy Emmaus New Year to All!

North Mississippi Emmaus Community has been the recipient of our Lord’s blessings for many years. As we start a new year, let us continue to lift up the Emmaus Community in prayer. We are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us in 2019. As you read this letter, teams for Walks #333, #334, #335, and #336 have been formed and are preparing to share the Light of Christ with our incoming pilgrims. What a tremendous responsibility and blessing they have! As we all know, each Walk to Emmaus is bathed in prayer – so let’s do our part and pray for all involved with these weekends.

The March 2019 walks are Walk #333, March 7-10 led by Chris Crowson and Walk #334, March 14-17, led by Angela Burrell.

Our Emmaus caretakers, Rick and Bev Shepherd, have kept the camp in great shape over the winter. Therefore, a February work day at the camp will not be necessary. They have remodeled and enclosed the kitchen area where the outside freezers were to make it much easier to access. Two new golf carts have been purchased to replace ones that were aging and almost falling apart. Many other behind the scenes areas such as plumbing have also been made. When you see Rick and Bev at the camp throughout the year, please thank them for the work they do. Many of the things they do are out of sight but they are very necessary to keep the camp in such great shape.

There are many ways you can help the Walk to Emmaus. The backbone of each Walk to Emmaus has always been prayer and will continue to be. You may not be physically able to come to the camp very often, but you can lift the camp up in prayer and thereby be a vital part of this community. Financial support is another way to show your support. For those who have attended a Chrysalis or a Walk to Emmaus, working on a team, attending candlelight services, sendoff, and closing services are other ways to support.

Our Board members are listed in this newsletter and we are always ready to help in any way we can. Please remember us in your prayers also as we try to follow the Lord’s will for this camp.

Decolores!
