Chairman's Message

March 2024

The North Mississippi Emmaus Board would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter week!  We serve a loving Father and what a wonderful time to celebrate Jesus….HE HAS RISEN! Hallelujah!

The board would like to thank Hank Harrington and Tina Bethey, along with their teams, for showing the love of Christ to the Pilgrims of Walks 365 and 366. By all accounts they have shared with our Pilgrims what a true servant’s heart should look like.

We are also excited to announce our slate of Lay Directors for 2025-2026. They are as follows:

Wesley Brown- April 3-6, 2025

Meredith Jackson- April 10-13, 2025

Lindey Hill- May 29-June 1, 2025

Cathy Cummings- June 5-8, 2025

Luther Burrell- September 4-7, 2025

Shonie Sullivan- September 11-14, 2025

Mike Shepherd- October 2-5, 2025

Dawn McMinn- October 8-12, 2025

Michael Harlow- March 2026

Norma Leigh Perry- March 2026

Please add these brothers and sisters to your prayers as they begin to prepare to serve our Lord and Savior in directing our upcoming Emmaus walks.

One of the three primary missions of the Walk to Emmaus is to Develop Christian Leaders, along with Strengthening Local Congregations, and Christianizing the Environment. There are multiple opportunities for us to reach out to those in our congregations who have shown an interest in taking an active part in their church’s activities. Within your congregations are clergy, Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, children’s ministry leaders, ushers, deacons, elders, shepherds, and many others who may not have been asked to come to our Walks. Sponsoring these church family members could be an amazing gift for them, and it could encourage them in the challenges that they may be faced with in their area of service. Please take an inventory of your congregational participation and let’s seek to share the Walk to Emmaus and fulfill our primary Emmaus mission. Multiple person sponsorship is a great way to include other Emmaus brothers and sisters with sharing the sponsor responsibilities of travel, expense, and follow up. The urgency to strengthen our local churches could not be more important than it is at this time.

The board is in the process of discussing fee structures for Walks in 2025.  As everyone knows, the cost of living has risen substantially over the past few years. We are trying to be prudent with the fee structure due to this rising cost. One thing that can have a material impact on this fee structure is the amount of contributions we receive. If you feel led to contribute, please make your check payable to North Mississippi Emmaus, c/o Les Miles, 444A Hwy 12 West, Starkville, MS 39759.

As a reminder, there are several ways to pay for registration. Cash, check, or debit cards may be used for check-in on Thursdays. Also, pilgrims may use debit cards at the book table during the Walks.

Upcoming Walks:

Tommy Reed- April 11-14

Melanie Sanders- April 18-21

Mike Jones- May 30-June 2

Lisa Sledge- June 6-9

Ginny Ables- September 5-8

Jennifer Williams- September 12-15

Stuart McKenzie- October 10-13

Phoebe Holland- October 17-20

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for our Emmaus ministry and please remember to keep upcoming Walks in your prayers as well!

DeColores,

Mitch Griffin
